After I did install the MS-SQLserver 2005 the Excel works fine with the new
“Microsoft OLE DB Provider for Analysis Services 9.0” but the old 8.0 driver
don’t work against old exists web servers with cubes in MS-SQL server 2000
Analysis services.

I get this error message :
“The H2 element at line 1, column 4(namespace) cannot appear under .”

Does anyone have any idea how to solve this?

Thanks

Hi Knut,

First of all, I would like to confirm my understanding of your issue. From
your description, I understand that after installing the MS SQL Server
2005, you cannot connect to MS-SQL Server 2000 analysis service with the
old 8.0 driver. If there is any misunderstanding, please feel free to let
me know.

From Excel, are you connecting with an ADO connection? If so, can you show
me some of the code, and let me know on which line of code did the error
appears?

Thank you!

I am using the pivottable wizard i Excel, and connect to webservere with
Analysis services. (I am not typing any vb codes).
On the webserver there is the msolap.asp file (see more about that here:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/dnsql2k/html/sql_datapump.asp).

Thank you:)

Hi Knut,

Sorry for the late response. I was building the same environment as your
for testing. However, I could not reproduce it on my machine. In this case,
I suspect that the Ole db provider for olap services 8.0 might be
corrupted. I suggest you try to re-install Microsoft SQL Server 2000
PivotTable Services. You can download it from the following link:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=d09c1d60-a13c-4479-
9b91-9e8b9d835cdc&displaylang=en

Please try this and let me know the results. If it still doesn't work, we
can do further troubleshooting.

Hi Kevin.
Thanks for your testing.
I could not find any "2000-driver" on your link, only "2005-drivers".
We have started to use the MS-SQL Server 2005. And I would like to let the
user test som new cubes in 2005. But I can't advice them to install the 9.0
driver if that result in problems for them to use the existing cubes in
AS-2000 server. They still need the 8.0 driver to see cubes in AS-2000.

When I install this driver (SQLServer2005_ASOLEDB9.msi) - 12098 KB - then
the old 8.0 don't work on my machine.

To solve this problem I did install 8.0-driver agin from this link:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=2bb62f35-d041-42ac-98da-6ec97168be21&DisplayLang=en

After this installation the "Microsoft OLE DB Provider for Analysis Services
8.0" work fine against the AS-2000 server - but then the "Microsoft OLE DB
Provider for Analysis Services 9.0" does not work against cubes in
SQL-2005.....

I have tested this on 3 machines. (run all updates against windows XP and
office first).
And get the same error on all.

To thest this it should be enough to use Excel 2003 on the client machine.
Since thats the tool for the customers.

Thank you for helping.
